Softball Assistant Representing USA in World Championships

Softball assistant Mike White is spending the next two weeks in Christchurch, New Zealand pitching for the men's USA Fastpitch team at the World Championships. White and the USA team open competition Jan. 30, 2004 vs. Botswana.
White is entering his second season as head coach Kathy Arendsen's assitant and was a key factor to the Ducks' success on the mound in 2003. Oregon posted a 2.12 team ERA in his first season -- it's lowest season ERA since 1994. Freshman Amy Harris set the single season strikeout record (180) while senior Andrea Vidlund led the nation in saves (11) and junior Anissa Meashintubby picked up her first two career Pac-10 victories in back-to-back games.
As a player, White is a two-time ASA first team All-American and most recently led the USA to a silver medal at the Pan Am Games in 2003.
