Wrestling Hits the Road For Pac-10 Battles

DUCK WRESTLING ON THE ROAD TO FACE PAC-10 OPPONENTS
The Oregon wrestling team (1-7, 0-3) returns on the road to face Pac-10 opponents Boise State on Friday night and No. 18 Arizona State on Sunday. Both will start at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. The Ducks are coming off two tough losses at home to Fresno State and Pac-10 foe No. 21 Cal State Bakersfield. The Bulldogs defeated the Ducks, 24-10 and the Roadrunners took the victory, 27-12. Senior Jason Harless was the only Duck last weekend to capture two dual wins to bring his overall record to 12-5.

Boise State will host Oregon in a Pac-10 match up on Friday starting at 6 p.m. at the Pavilion in Boise, Idaho. Boise State is coming off four straight dual wins including Pac-10 opponents Fresno State, UC Davis and Portland State. The Broncos feature one ranked wrestler at 197. Sophomore K.C. Walsh is nationally ranked 13th by Intermat. He currently has a record of 20-6 including four majors and two pins. The Broncos are led by second year head coach Greg Randall. He has a winning record, 16-6 over the two seasons thus far.

No. 19 Arizona State will host the Ducks on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils are undefeated in Pac-10 with wins over Stanford (24-17), Oregon State (20-19) and Cal State Fullerton (22-12). Arizona State features eight nationally ranked wrestlers. Christian Staylor is No. 11 at 125, Mike Simpson is No. 9 at 133, Patrick Williams is No. 13 at 149, Brian Stith is No. 17 at 157, Ron Renzi is No. 20 at 174, Nick Frost is No.6 at 184, Ryan Bader is No. 3 at 197 and Cain Velasquez is No. 7 at heavyweight. The Sun Devils will host No. 2 Nebraska on Friday before the Ducks take to the arena on Sunday.
