Broncos Shutout Duck Wrestling, 42-0

BOISE, Idaho - The Oregon Wrestling team falls to Boise State in a Pac-10 conference match Friday night, 42-0 at Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho. The Ducks fall to 1-10 overall, 0-5 in Pac-10. Boise State improves to 6-3, 3-2.
"We have a group of young guys and when they are in situation they are not used to, it is tough to call on them to wrestle in tough matches and we didn’t make the adjusts we needed to make," head coach Chuck Kearney said. "We just got overwhelmed, overwhelmed by the crowd, by the officiating and we didn’t respond to the venue."
Oregon wrestler Joey Lucas came close to a win but lost in the final period at 125. Clint Wofley of Boise State pinned Lucas at the 6:53 mark of the match to clinch the victory and to put the Broncos up, 6-0 over the Ducks.
Senior Jason Harless and Scott Jorgensen had a close match at 133 with Jorgensen ahead 2-1 after the second period. Jorgensen finalized the win with a late takedown in the third period.
At 157, Joey Bracamonte was tied with Ben Cherrington 4-4 at the end of the second period. However, Bracamonte was unable to put up any more points as Cherrington took the match, 10-4.
Chet McBee had the closest match of the night at 174 against Jonathan Carlisle. Carlisle had a 1-0 lead after the second period. There was no points in the match other than escape points for both McBee and Carlisle. The match ended with Carlisle taking the match, 2-1.
Cody Parker and Jacob McGinnis had a close bout at heavyweight all the way through. The third period ended in a tie, 5-5 sending the match into overtime. McGinnis scored a two-point takedown at 0:27 in overtime to secure the victory, 7-5 over Parker.
"We need to re-group and travel to Tempe, take care of the little things to compete and get ready to wrestle a very good team on Sunday," Kearney said.
This loss marks the third shutout this season against the Ducks. The first was against No. 1 Oklahoma State on Dec. 14, 2003 and the second was against No. 2 Nebraska on Jan. 3. This is the first time that the Ducks have been shutout three times in one season.
The Ducks will be back in action on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. to face Pac-10 opponent No. 19 Arizona State starting at 1 p.m.
