Men's Tennis To Host Two Top 20 Squads

ALL WASHED UP- The Ducks were rained out of both dual matches last weekend in Santa Barbara, Calif.
CONSISTENT- Oregon has posted a 5-2 singles record at every position but the No. 6 spot (3-4).
MOVING UP- Junior Sven Swinnen is about to move into some elite company. The Switzerland native is two wins away from moving into Oregon’s top 10 wins list.
ALSO MOVING UP- The duo of Thomas Bieri and Manuel Kost now have 20 career wins, moving them into ninth on the doubles all-time win list.
FAST START- The Ducks have already picked up over half of last year’s total in doubles wins. The Ducks went 30-30 in doubles play last season. This season they are already 18-3.
IMPROVEMENT- The Ducks are two wins away from totalling last season’s mark of eight.
REPRESENTING- Sven Swinnen made the jump into the Top 100, rated the No. 92 player in the nation after a 6-1 dual record and 12-4 overall start.
LAST WEEK- The Ducks were rained out of both matches against UC Santa Barbara and No. 19 Oklahoma State in Santa Barbara, Calif.
COACH RUSSELL ON THIS WEEK- “This weekend will be our toughest yet with two opponents in the Top-20 of the national rankings. We have been looking forward to this. The level of tennis in Eugene this weekend will be very high, and we are hoping that the community continues to come out and show their enthusiasm!”
THIS WEEK'S SCOUTING REPORT- #8 Rice- The Owls (9-0) made a dramtic jump from No. 23 to No.8 in the recent ITA Tennis poll. Rice boasts impressive wins against No. 6 Stanford and No. 20 California. Sophomore Robert Searle is currently rated the No. 28 player in the country, with a 5-2 dual record. William Barker is rated No. 33. Barker teams with twin brother Richard to make the No. 2 doubles squad in the nation. Rice defeated the Ducks last season, 7-0.
#18 Washington- The Huskies are 8-2 on the season, with an impressive win over No. 15 Harvard. Washington is led by No. 3-ranked Alex Vlaski who is 8-1 in dual matches on the year. Vlaski teams with Alex Slovic to make the No. 45 doubles duo. The Huskies defeated Oregon in both meeting last seaosn, 6-1, and 4-3.
