Duck Diary Part Four

Hello duck fans it is time for another update. Over the last couple of weeks, there have been many things happening. Sadly we lost our first match to Boise St., but we also bounced right back and won probably the most exciting match I have been a part of since becoming a Duck. We beat Denver 4-3 with the doubles point being won by our one and two doubles both by a score of 8-6. In singles, every match except for Thomas’ went three sets, Thomas won easy three and three, but the rest of the matches did not have the same story. Two matches ended in third set breakers, with one going our way and one going theirs, we also lost two other close ones 5-7 in the third and the other was 4-6. Manu won easy in the third 6-2. The team match ended up coming down to my match, which was one of the third set breakers. I think everyone wanted to kill me because I had match points at 5-3 in the third and could not close it out, but then once everyone else was done and I was the only one left my teammates made the difference in the match. I never knew that six players, two coaches and one trainer could make so much noise. It was the greatest feeling to have them all behind me and then after I won the match to have them all rushing me on the court. I think that the team really reached a new level of closeness with each other after going through that close of a match together. Following that match, we had a quick turn around and had to prepare for Santa Barbara and Oklahoma St. down in Santa Barbara, Calif. The way it turned out there was not much to prepare for as we were rained out the whole weekend and had to cancel both matches.
A weekend off isn’t what we were looking forward to as there was some good opportunities for us down in Santa Barbara, but I think it was a good rest for the guys to get ready for the huge weekend we have coming up. This weekend we face Rice who is number eight in the country, which is a huge chance for us to play a top ten team at home. Then on Sunday we get the Huskies, I don’t think that I have to say too much about how big this match is for us on all sorts of different levels. We are working hard and getting ready with a full week of practice and big thoughts in our minds of what is coming up this weekend.
The match times are 4:00 on Friday and 12:00 on Sunday. So if you have wanted to come to a match and have not had the opportunity this would be an awesome weekend to do so, and to all of the people that have been at the match’s thanks a ton you are doing an awesome job. We would love to see all of you that have been at the previous matches and we all love seeing new faces and hearing new voices. Go Ducks.
