The first-team all-East County defensive stalwart was rated among the top 50 prep prospects in the state (SuperPrep) as well as one of the 15 elite defensive backs. In addition to acquiring first-team all-Grossmont South League accolades on both sides of the ball, the second-team all-CIF San Diego Section product ranked sixth in the East County in scoring (12 TDs) and 12th in all-purpose yards (973) a year ago. Was instrumental in leading his team to a 11-2 record in 2003, tallying 40 tackles and four interceptions (82 yards) in addition to averaging 19.9 yards on 14 kickoff returns. The second-team all-county receiver totaled 450 yards and five touchdowns as the Monarchs’ leading pass catcher, including 143 yards and two touchdown catches in last year’s win over Oceanside High School. Characterized as an athletic defender who is a good hitter and possesses strong one-on-one cover skills, he accumulated 1,200 rushing yards and 600 yards receiving his junior year after tallying over 1,000 yards on the ground in 2001.
