The fact that a defensive lineman could elicit the state’s defensive player-of-the-year accolades (The Oregonian) is enough to suggest that his talents exceed the norm, as well as the attention received from the Tacoma News Tribune (Northwest Nuggets) and the Long Beach Press-Telegram (Best in the West honorable mention). All-around athletic skills epitomized by his play on the basketball court as well as track & field competition (ranking fourth in the state in the discus in 2003 - 167’-6”), not to mention returning a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown vs. Eagle Point in 2002. The 2003 first-team all-state pick (The Oregonian) on offense (guard) and defense (tackle) garnered most valuable lineman honors at last summer’s Nike Camp before paving the way for high school’s 1,300-yard rusher and 2,000-yard passer his senior season.
