Rated as the 42nd-best prep prospect in the Midwest (SuperPrep) as well as one of the top 10 defensive backs, the first-team all-state selection (Illinois High School Football Coaches Association) proved to be a major force behind the Lancers’ No. 14 season-ending state ranking among all classes. Also rated 21st according to Rivals.com among the nation’s top safety hopefuls. The three-year starter and two-time Upstate Eight Conference honoree accumulated 97 tackles his senior year in addition to 12 pass deflections and two interceptions. He also displayed exemplary athletic skills on special teams as he blocked six punts a year ago. The hard-hitting defender accrued all-state honorable mention attention as a junior after leading the team with 90 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and nine pass deflections. After starting at cornerback his sophomore season he paced a secondary that was vital to the school advancing to the state 8A semifinals with a 10-3 record in 2003.
