The PrepStar and SuperPrep All-American was ranked among the top 12 outside linebackers in the country (Rivals.com) as well as the 15th-rated prep prospect in the state (SuperPrep). Also named to the Western One-hundred (Tacoma News Tribune) listing in addition to finishing fourth on the Contra Costa Times’ Cream of the Crop chart. Appeared on more ballots among linebackers except one on the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Best in the West ledger. Ranked second on the team in tackles (122) for a program which posted 151 consecutive wins, and added three interceptions and one fumble recovery. The two-year starter also excelled on the offensive side of scrimmage as a senior, rushing for a league-leading 1,014 yards (9.2 avg.) and 16 touchdowns to go along with 17 receptions for 287 yards and two scores. His stock rose dramatically following an outstanding senior season, leading the Bay Valley League in scoring with 112 points. Ran for 142 yards vs. Monte Vista as one of four 100-yard rushing efforts in addition to scoring four touchdowns vs. La Costa Canyon as well as three TDs against Monte Vista and Pittsburg. Displaying excellent one-on-one coverage skills, was a major factor in the Spartans’ defense limiting the opposition to 200.3 yards of total offense in 2002. Characterized as an intelligent athlete who utilizes his speed, boasts of a best bench press of 260 lbs. along with a 450-lb. squat. Participated in January’s California-Florida all-star game.
