Tennis Battles Washington Schools

New Rankings - Daria Panova is currently ranked No. 8 in the country, while freshman Dominika Dieskova is ranked No. 53.
Schedule Woes - The Ducks endured the same tough strecth (1-5) last season when they took on both Washington schools, Stanford, Cal, USC and UCLA...all in a row...five of the six ranked in the top 12.
Top 25...Again - Despite dropping matches against No. 11 USC and No. 12 UCLA, the Ducks remain stationed at No. 23 in the recent ITA Tennis poll.
Power Conference - Oregon is one of six schools from the Pac-10 rated in the Top 25. Stanford (1), Washington (8), Cal (9), USC (11), UCLA (12), Oregon (23), give the Pac-10 the most, with the SEC and Big Ten holding down four spots.
Last Week - #13 USC - The Ducks were blanked by the Trojans, 7-0, giving them their fourth consecutive loss. Davina Mendiburu and Ester Bak picked up their ninth doubles dual victory of the season.
#11 UCLA - On Saturday, Oregon could not handle the Bruins, losing 6-1. The lone bright spot for the Ducks was No. 8-ranked Daria Panova, who ended her four match losing streak by defeating No. 11-ranked Jackie Carleton.
Coach Schyllander on this Week - “We are coming off what we feel was the toughest part of our schedule. This does not mean it will get any easier but we feel ready after facing four final 8 teams in a row. We are extremely excited about hosting the Washington schools. These are two very good programs and we need to play our best in order to meet our goals for the weekend. The Huskies have definately been highlighted on our schedule ever since we dropped a close match to them in Seattle last month.”
Scouting Report - #8 WASHINGTON - The Huskies are 11-2 on the season and open up conference play with Oregon. Impressive wins include - No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 21 BYU, and No. 22 Illinois. UW boasts three players ranked in the top 100. No. 78 Erin Hoe is 11-2 in duals, No. 22 Claire Carter is 9-3, and No. 20 Dea Sumantri is a remarkable 12-0 in duals on the season. Washington defeated Oregon, 5-2, earlier this season in a non-conference dual match in Seattle, Wash.
#58 WASHINGTON STATE - The Cougars are 3-7 on the year. In their first matchup, WSU was defated by the Ducks, 4-3, in Lewiston, Idaho. The team is led by Zsofia Fodor (7-3 dual record), Lorena Arias (5-3), and Nora Gaal (7-3).
