Duck Diary - Part Six

This is going to be the third time that I sit down to write this duck diary. Not kidding. I wrote one the weekend we played Long Beach and Pepperdine. Well, I started writing it in a play-by-play format where I wrote a few notes before and after each match, a few notes about our flight and airport antics, and a few words about the hotel & restaurants and all the crazy things our team did. I wanted to give you a taste of what a DUCK travel weekend is like. But when I finally sat down to write it, I had so many random notes and scribbles that all I could do was look at them and smile. It was a great weekend. We beat both schools 4-3 and every single one of us contributed greatly to the wins.
The other diary I wrote was dedicated to our Bolivian freshman. She just got back from Brazil where she represented Bolivia in the Fed-Cup. Great job woman! The reason that you’re not reading that diary right now is because I had quite the computer issues. Let’s just say I couldn’t salvage any of it. Sorry Monica. You’re the best.
So here I am now and I’m hoping that the third time’s the charm. It’s the end of April. Our regular season is over. The weather is gorgeous in Eugene. At this time a year ago, we were all done with tennis but it’s a total different story for us this year. We have the best part of the season coming up in two weeks: The NCAA Tournament. It’ll be my first time playing in it and I’ve heard from the older girls and the coaches that it’s an amazing experience. I can’t wait! Especially because we are all playing our best tennis right now and we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
As you may or may not have heard, we have a new addition to our family for next year. Her name is Tetiana and she comes to us from the Ukraine. I’ve heard great things about her and it’s always exciting meeting someone you know you’re going to spend a LOT of time with. She’s flying in on Friday for the weekend on a recruiting visit and our team is going to show her what Eugene and DUCKS are all about. Are you reading this right now Tetiana? Yes, I’m talking to you. You better come ready to laugh and smile and then laugh again. I remember after my visit here two years ago it took me a few days to come back down to Earth because my head was in the clouds. Does that even make sense? I think so. I’m trying to say that I had an amazing time.
Another thing I can’t forget to mention is that this has been the best season in DUCK history. We won 16 and lost only 8. I’m very proud of our team. It’s been a great year and I am very glad that it isn’t yet over! I love you ladies and coaches! Go Ducks! Vamos Patos! Allez Canards!
One last thing. What did the duck say when she bought lipstick? Put it on my bill.
