Softball Travels To Tallahassee, Fla., For NCAA Regionals

EUGENE ? The 12th-ranked University of Oregon softball team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., as the No. 2 seed in the 2004 NCAA Regionals hosted by No. 1 seed Florida State. Oregon will face No. 7 seed Bethune-Cookman (44-26) Thursday at 9:30 a.m. PST.
"I think this is an excellent opportunity for our team," Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen said. "We have played at Florida State and we have traveled to Florida this season so I feel that the players know a little of what to expect. It’s very exciting to be continuing our season and to have this opportunity."
Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in the double-elimination tournament. The regional winners advance to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS), an eight-team, double-elimination tournament. (Note: The championship final is a single-game final.) Regionals will be conducted May 20-23. The WCWS will be conducted May 27-31 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
