Nagle Receives ITA Arthur Ashe Award

ATHENS, Ga. ? The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awarded senior Courtney Nagle with the 2004 Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship Sunday.
The award goes to the player who exhibits outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements. Nagle will be honored this August in a special ceremony at the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, N.Y.
Nagle finished her career with a 65-36 singles record, good for third all-time at Oregon. She earned All-America honors as a junior after receiving an NCAA Individual Championship appearance, while posting a 19-16 singles record and a 20-13 doubles mark.
"I am so proud of Courtney," Oregon head coach Nils Schyllander said. "She was the cornerstone of our team and has set a tremendous example of what we are looking for in an Oregon athlete."
Two Ducks will participate today in the NCAA Individual Championships. No. 12 Daria Panova (32-12) and No. 71 Dominika Dieskova (20-16) will open singles first round action in Athens, Ga.
