Women's Basketball Announces 2004-05 Schedule

EUGENE, Ore. ? Six non-conference postseason teams and a home classic featuring traditional powers highlight the 2004-05 University of Oregon women’s basketball schedule, fourth-year coach Bev Smith announced Monday.
In non-conference action, the Ducks will play four teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year (Southern, George Washington, Ohio State, Miami) as well as two WNIT squads (Colorado State, Idaho State).
The Ducks open the regular season Nov. 19 against regional rival Portland at McArthur Court. Oregon then plays host Nov. 23 to Southern, a 2004 NCAA Tournament qualifier after winning the SWAC Tournament.
Oregon’s first road trip of 2004-05 takes them to Brookville, N.Y., in a tournament hosted by Long Island University. The Ducks first will play NCAA Tournament participant Miami (Fla.). The winner of that game will play either the host institution or Maryland-Eastern Shore.
This year’s Pap? Jam (Dec. 4) features another NCAA Tournament qualifier, George Washington, which defeated the Ducks last year in Washington, D.C. Oregon then takes on WNIT participants Idaho State (Dec. 9) at home and Colorado State (Dec. 12) on the road before playing host to the inaugural Nike Classic (Dec. 18) at McArthur Court. The classic will pit Oklahoma vs. Louisiana Tech followed by Oregon vs. Ohio State. The Ducks then travel to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas (Dec. 21) before Pac-10 play begins Dec. 27 against Cal.
Oregon finished 14-15 and 6-12 in conference play last year. The Ducks return 12 letterwinners, which includes its entire starting lineup from early last year.
