Duck Golfers Honored by Pac-10

EUGENE, Ore. ? Five University of Oregon golfers were selected to the Pac-10’s all-academic golf teams, the league announced Friday.
Therese Wenslow, a sophomore from Bunkeflostrand, Sweden, was named to the women’s first team, while senior Katie Cunningham, junior Jaime Seefried and sophomore Michelle Timpani were honorable mention selections. On the men’s side, redshirt freshman Dustin Pewarchuk earned a spot on the all-academic second team.
Wenslow, who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII At-Large second team Thursday, carries a 4.02 grade point average in business administration. She was Oregon’s No. 3 golfer in 2003-04 with a 77.1 scoring average and helped Oregon advance to the NCAA West Regional for the first time in three years. She had five top-25 finishes this season, including a career-best tie-for-second at the Oregon Duck Invitational, where she shot a 7-over 223.
Pewarchuk was fourth on the men’s team with a 74.7 scoring average. He had two top-20 finishes on the season, including a tie for eighth at the Oregon Duck Invitational. The Vancouver, B.C., native has a 3.77 GPA in pre-business administration.
Seefried, from Spokane, Wash., was an honorable mention honoree for the third consecutive season. She holds a 3.00 GPA in political science. It is the first honor for Cunningham, the West Linn, Ore., native who is the only senior on the women’s team. She has a 3.13 GPA in exercise movement science. Timpani was Oregon’s No.4 golfer in 2003-04 with a 78.4 scoring average. The Gig Harbor, Wash., native holds a 3.02 GPA and has not yet declared a major.
