Jackson Taken by Cleveland in the First Round of the NBA Draft

EUGENE, Ore. ? Luke Jackson was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2004 NBA draft as the 10th overall selection Thursday. The 6-7 guard/forward was the highest Oregon selection since Greg Ballard was taken as the No. 4 pick by Washington in 1977.
Jackson becomes the 42nd NBA draft pick in Duck history. The selection marks the third consecutive year and tenth time an Oregon player was selected in the first round. Both Fred Jones (2002) and Luke Ridnour (2003) were chosen as the 14th pick in their respective drafts.
The Creswell, Ore., native led the Ducks in scoring, rebounding and assists his senior year, averaging 21.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He is the only player in school history with three 500-point seasons, while finishing his career with 1,970 points, good for second all-time at Oregon.
Jackson became Oregon’s first consensus All-American since Ballard in 1977, while the two-time first team All-Pac-10 honoree was named a finalist (20 players) for the Wooden and Naismith Awards during the 2003-04 season.
