Men's Tennis Sign Florida High School Standout

EUGENE, Ore. ? Christopher Liao, a Florida State High School doubles finalist and singles semifinalist, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Oregon according to men’s head tennis coach Chris Russell.
"Chris will be a great addition to our program," Russell said. "He is big hitter with a great serve and will be able to step and contribute as a freshman."
Liao, originally from Taiwan, is currently playing at the International Tennis Academy in Delray, Fla. He attended American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, where he reached the finals of the 2003 Class A doubles tournament, while reaching the semifinals in 2004. He also reached the semifinals of the 2004 singles tourney. Liao played a key part in American Heritage winning the FHSAA Class A state title in 2003 and finishing runner-up in 2004.
The Ducks return all but one player from last seasons NCAA Tournament squad. Both Sven Swinnen (ranked No. 25 nationally) and Manuel Kost (No. 66) will return for their senior campaigns after reaching the 2004 NCAA Individual Championships. Oregon returns 89 of its 96 singles victories from last season.
