EUGENE, Ore. ? The time has nearly arrived. The University of Oregon women's lacrosse team will make history Saturday with its first intercollegiate competition against Stanford at Pap? Field at noon in the season opener for both teams.
Admission is free for the first Division I intercollegiate lacrosse game in the Pacific Northwest.
Premium-service subscribers will be able to listen to the play-by-play via GoDucks.com as John Strong will call the action for the historic event. In fact, play-by-play audio for all five home Oregon games will be available. Real-time live stats also can be viewed on GoDucks.com.
Stanford finished last year with a 9-9 record and took first place with a 5-1 mark in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The Cardinal, who return 13 letterwinners while losing nine, received six votes in the laxpower.com top 20 poll released this week.
This will be the first taste of varsity action for all of the Ducks, who feature 23 freshmen, one junior and one senior.
