Davis Nabs Second Player of the Week Honor of the Season

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ? Oregon guard Brandi Davis has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 15-21, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.
Davis, a native of La Habra, Calif., averaged 17.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games as Oregon swept Arizona State and Arizona. On the weekend, she shot 50 percent from the field (13-of-26), 39 percent from beyond the arc (7-of-18) and 100 percent (2-of-2) from the foul line.
The Player of the Week honor is the second for Davis and is the 28th all-time selection for Oregon. It marks just the fourth time an Oregon player has earned the honor more than once in a season ? it last happened when Arianne Boyer won it twice in 1997.
In Oregon's 66-59 victory over Arizona State last Thursday, Davis led Oregon with a game-high 16 points, 12 of which she made in the first half, and made 6-of-11 shots overall.
In the 69-51 win over Arizona on Saturday, Davis sparked the Ducks with 13 of her team-high 19 points in the second half. She shot 7-of-15 overall, including 5-of-12 from long range. Davis also added four rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot, one steal and no turnovers in 30 minutes of play.
Oregon (18-7 overall, 11-5 Pac-10) enters the week in second place in the Pac-10, a half-game ahead of USC. The Ducks travel to the Bay Area to face Stanford and California on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
