#25 Women's Tennis Set for Two in the Desert

This weekend the No. 25 Ducks (8-1) open Pac-10 play against Arizona (Fri., 1:30 p.m.) and Arizona State (Sat., 11 a.m.) with hopes of their second consecutive sweep against their desert foes. Doubles play has been the story for Oregon as it enters this weekend's match having won the doubles point in all nine of the teams' matches.
Last Time Out ? Oregon split with the Washington schools in a non-conference doubleheader. Dominika Dieskova picked up two wins, moving her into a tie with teammate Davina Mendiburu for the team lead in overall wins (14). Dieskova leads the team with eight dual victories (8-1).
Scouting Arizona ? The Wildcats are 5-2 and in the midst of a two-match losing skid. #33 Diane Hollands and Maja Mlakar combine for a 13-1 dual mark. Oregon defeated UA last season, 6-1, in Eugene.
Scouting ASU ? The Sun Devils are 1-1 with a close 4-3 loss to #13 Texas. ASU is led by Sabrina Capannolo who is ranked #89 and is 11-5 overall. Last season, Oregon defeated ASU 5-2 in Eugene.
National Rankings ? As a team, the Ducks hold at No. 25. Despite a 7-1 dual mark, Daria Panova fell out of the rankings for the first time since becoming a Duck. Dieskova boasts a 14-5 overall mark yet still fell to No. 86. Early rankings are often affected due to fall tournaments and strong/weak non-conference schedules and incoming freshman.
More Rankings ? Despite the drop in singles rankings, Dieskova and Panova jumped up from No. 45 in doubles to No. 15 with a perfect 9-0 start to the dual season.
Great Doubles ? Oregon is 23-4 in dual doubles matches this season.
Strong at the Top...and Bottom ? Over the past few seasons, Oregon has always produced great records at the top two singles positions, but this season, their has been top-to-bottom success. Oregon is 16-2 at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions combined, but also boasts a 7-2 No. 3, 6-2 No.4, and 7-2 No. 6 dual record.
