Wrestling Hit Hard by #1 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. ? A night after falling just short of No. 6 Oklahoma, the Ducks ran into defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State and lost 46-4 Saturday. The lone Ducks (5-9, 2-5) win came from No. 17 Joey Bracamonte, who won his 22nd match of the season.
Six of the ten wrestlers for Oklahoma State entered the match with a national ranking and lived up to their billing, recording five pins in nine victories.
Junior Martin Mitchell had a solid showing, falling to No. 8 Nathan Morgan by decision, 11-7, at 133.
Bracamonte captured the Ducks only win, defeating OSU’s Sam Lewnes by major decision, 15-5. Bracamonte is now 22-3 on the year.
Senior Scott Barker lost his first match in over a month, losing for the second time this season to No. 1 Jake Rosholt at 197. While at Missouri, Barker lost to Rosholt by decision, 13-5, at the 2003 NCAA Championships at 184. Barker falls to 27-5.
"They proved why they are the No. 1 team in the country," Oregon head coach Chuck Kearney said. " We got a taste of how we need to wrestle. They have an aggressive style that we try to emphasize in our program. Our kids need to sustain their intensity for all seven minutes."
Oregon resumes Pac-10 action as they host Oregon State, Feb. 13 (Sun.) at McArthur Court at 2 p.m.
