UO Men?s Golf Faces Top Teams in Hawaii

EUGENE, Ore. ? The Oregon men’s golf team will square off against eight of the nation’s top 15 teams Wednesday through Friday at the 15th annual Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii. Teams will play one round each day on the 6,687-yard, par-72 Waikoloa Village Course.
The high-caliber field includes No. 2 Georgia Tech, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Texas, No. 9 UCLA, No. 10 Texas Christian, No. 11 USC, No. 14 Augusta State and No. 15 Arizona State. Also in the 21-team tournament with Oregon is Arkansas, UC Davis, Colorado, Fresno State, Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Rhode Island, Stanford and Washington.
Oregon will send two juniors -- local players Justin St. Clair (Springfield, Ore.) and Chris Dukeminier (Eugene, Ore.), freshmen Derek Sipe and Joey Benedetti and sophomore Eric Hastings to the Big Island. Sipe is coming off a tie-for-16th at last week’s Ping Arizona Intercollegiate.
