No. 25 Women's Tennis Will Be Tested This Weekend at Bay Area Schools

After coming up with its biggest win of the season over No. 16 Washington Tuesday, the University of Oregon women’s tennis team (13-2, 2-1) continues Pacific-10 Conference play this weekend down in the Bay Area. The Ducks will face No. 24 California (Fri., noon) and No. 1 Stanford (Sat., 11 a.m.). Oregon is led by senior Daria Panova and sophomore Dominika Dieskova, who have won 24 of their last 28 dual matches combined.
Last Time Out ? The Ducks ended a six-match losing streak to the Huskies with a 4-3 victory Tuesday. Daria Panova defeated No. 9-ranked Dea Sumantri in one of Oregon’s three singles victories. The Ducks won the doubles point for the 13th time this season.
Scouting #24 Cal ? The Golden Bears (9-3) are coming off of a 4-2 upset over No. 2 Northwestern. Freshman phenom Suzi Babos is ranked fourth nationally with a 26-4 overall record. All three of Cal’s losses have come at home.
Scouting #1 Stanford ? The Cardinal (10-0) have been virtually unstoppable, owning the No. 1 ranking since February of last year. Of their ten wins, Stanford has shutout seven opponents and given up two points only three times. Seven players are ranked on a team that has won back-to-back national titles.
National Rankings ? The Ducks moved up one spots to No. 25. Stanford holds at No. 1, while USC (5), UCLA (12), Washington (16) and Cal (24) all reside in the top 25.
