Duck Diary -- Ester Bak 3/28

Hello to all those Ducks out there:
Geez, Where to start? For most college students, their ultimate and eventual goal in college is to graduate. As my senior year is nearing, this goal is increasingly moving to the bottom of my priority list. With only six matches left, all I think about is freezing time so I can be with my seven severely crazy and talented Ducks! These have been the best times of my life!
There is so much to reflect on through my college years. It’s been such an incredible ride!!!...and the memories are racing through my brain. Through the years, I’ve met many many teams and I can confidently say that the Ducks are one of a kind! With eight Crazy unique girls from eight different roots, there has not been a team so uniquely functional, retarded, close and FUN all at the same time! It just seems like we can never get enough of each other whether it be on court, at home, or on trips....always finishing off each other’s sentence in polish, spanish, french, or whatever gibberish we’ve made up!
There have been so many AmaZing memories, it is so hard to pick out the single Best! It has been such an experience to make history for the Duck program on and off the court. The list is endless for the accomplishments we have all made in our tennis careers here at Oregon. I can not forget to mention Dasza’s unbelievable 3-time Pac-10 All-American feat. If there were to be a tennis goddess, it would definitely go to this Russian FREAK-a-zoid. As for off-the court, I will never forget the time when Jack sang rap in UCLA’s lounge when we got rained out; and when Jack and Nils did their vacuum dance on-court, or when a picture of Jack showed up in my anthropology notes as a Probiscus monkey. Of course, the catastrophic bombs in the car will never be forgotten nor the time when Courtney went on strike in Michigan or Kathy’s chipmunk cheeks. So many good times...then again there was the time I will never forget when Courtney pantsed me in the parking lot at Ojai. But I forgive u Nagle. :))
There have been so many good times and the best is still yet to come! As for our most recent results, we kicked off with two top 20 wins against BYU and the puppies! Then, we flew down to the Bay area where we were inches away from pulling off another upset against the Cubs! Our last match was against the #1 Stanford Cardinals and they proved why they were number one but I must mention Davina’s lone-ranked win against the Cardinals. We will have three ranked Ducks in the next rankings coming out! Congrats, Way to go girls!!!
We have also a new addition to our Duck family, another Polish Anna (a.k.a SIWA) pronounced SH-EE-VA, who arrived two weeks ago. Despite being sick and being thrown into the shocking college tennis whirlwind, she fought like a DUCK and we are very happy she joined us!!!
It was another great spring break and right now we are looking to do the most damage in Georgia at NCAA’s!
This weekend we have USC and UCLA at home. This will be our last home match of the year and it would be really great to see and get support from our wonderful fans. There are three seniors left, including myself and we would love to share these last special matches with you! GO DUCKS!!! :) Ester B.
