Chaput Named Co-Pac-10 Softball Player Of The Week

EUGENE -- University of Oregon freshman Lovena Chaput and Arizona sophomore Caitlin Lowe have been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Co-Players of the Week as announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen today. California pitcher Kelly Anderson was named Pitcher of the Week.
"I’m really excited about being honored especially in the Pac-10," Chaput said. "The Pac-10 has the best players in the country and to be named among the best on any given weekend is a great honor."
Chaput, from Tualatin, Ore., led the Ducks to four wins over Nevada and BYU on Mar. 25 and 26, respectively. Chaput went 6-for-13 (.642) at the plate, including a home run and drove in three runs. She scored two runs and accumulated a .692 slugging percentage. Chaput also drew two walks and tallied nine total bases. On the season, Chaput is hitting .329 and leads the Ducks with 28 hits.
This is the first conference honor for an Oregon player this season and the seventh overall under Coach Arendsen.
