Women?s Golf Looks For Another Top Five Finish at ASU

EUGENE, Ore. ? The Oregon women’s golf team will be looking for its third straight top five finish when it competes in the Ping/ASU Invitational Friday through Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. Teams will play 18 holes each day on the 6,230-yard, par-72 Karsten Golf Course.
With 10 teams ranked in the nation’s top 25 among the 17 teams in competition at Karsten, the Ducks will be pushed to repeat their second-place showing at last week’s Oregon Duck Invitational or their third-place finish from the Pinehurst Challenge at the beginning of the month.
"We’re starting to play well at the right time of the year," said Oregon coach Shannon Rouillard. "We have three players who have seen this course many times, so I expect us to do well this weekend."
The field includes defending champion and second-ranked UCLA, No. 5 Pepperdine, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 8 Washington, No. 12 New Mexico, No. 18 USC, No. 19 Arizona, No. 20 Stanford, No. 22 Texas, No. 24 Tulsa, California, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State and Texas Christian.
Oregon will send senior Johnna Nealy, juniors Erin Andrews and Michelle Timpani, sophomore Kim McCready and freshman Victoria Wenslow to Tempe.
The Ducks finished 13th with a 913 score at last year’s Ping/ASU tournament. Oregon has not finished in the top 10 at Tempe since taking fifth in 1998.
