UO Men?s Basketball Team Honors Announced

EUGENE, Ore. ? Sophomore guard Aaron Brooks was named the University of Oregon’s most valuable player for the 2004-05 season at the men’s basketball team’s annual banquet held Sunday at the Valley River Inn.
Brooks, from Seattle, Wash., averaged 14.7 points and 4.6 assists per game to lead the Ducks to a 14-13 record. He also shot .855 from the free throw line.
Sophomore guard Jordan Kent picked up two awards. For the second straight year, Kent, from Eugene, Ore., won the Harry Ritchie scholar-athlete award for his 3.11 GPA in business administration. Also for the second time, Kent won the Rear Admiral John Dick defensive player of the year award, an honor he shared with freshman wing Bryce Taylor (Encino, Calif.)
Freshmen won the final two awards, as well. Guard Malik Hairston (Detroit, Mich.) was named the John Warren most inspirational player, while guard Chamberlain Oguchi (Houston, Texas) earned the Jesse Nash most improved player award.
