Lacrosse Takes Momentum to Berkeley

After winning back-to-back games for the second time this season, the University of Oregon women’s lacrosse team (4-9, 1-3 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) takes a recently potent offensive attack (32 goals in the last two games) to the Bay Area this weekend (Sun., noon) to take on California (9-6, 2-1).
WHAT'S UP -- The University of Oregon women’s lacrosse team (4-9, 1-3) returns to the Bay Area Sunday to battle California. The Golden Bears are tied for second in the MPSF conference with UC Davis. The Ducks will carry the momentum of a two-game winning streak and Saturday’s conference victory over Saint Mary’s. California is coming off of a 14-4 loss to No. 19 Yale last weekend.
SCOUTING CAL -- Cal’s top three scorers this season are sophomores Laura Cavallo (35 goals, 14 assists), Liz Reifsnyder (22 goals, 14 assists), and Jocelyn Paul (23 goals, 11 assists). Cavallo and Reifsnyder also lead the team with 32 ground balls apiece. Senior Molly Brady is the Bears’ fourth-leading scorer (22 goals, 4 assists, 26 points).
STORYLINE -- The Ducks’ offense is starting to click, having scored 16 goals in each of the last two games. Balance has also been the key as nine individual players scored goals vs. Davidson, followed by eight against Saint Mary’s. Twelve of the 21 Ducks who have played this season have scored, including six in double-digits. Jen May leads the way with 32 goals, followed by Jana Bradley with 23.
