Rupp to Make Collegiate Debut in Oregon Invite Sat. Evening
EUGENE ? University of Oregon freshman Galen Rupp is scheduled to make his collegiate debut in a Duck uniform at Saturday’s Oregon Invitational at Hayward Field.
The NCAA declared Rupp eligible Friday to compete in Saturday’s meet, where he will run in either the 5,000 at 7:55 p.m. or the 10,000 meters at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Rupp broke the high school records in the 2000 (5:18.5), 3000 (8:03.67) and 5000 (13:37.91) within the past year, in addition to running the nation’s fastest high school mark in the mile (4:01.8) a year ago.
