Lacrosse Opens MPSF Conference Tournament Play

What’s Up
The University of Oregon women’s lacrosse team will partake in is first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament, held at Saint Mary’s campus in Moraga, Calif., starting Thursday. The Ducks (5-10, 1-4 MPSF) closed out the regular season on a high note, defeating Ohio 9-7 last Saturday. Oregon will open tournament play against UC Davis Thursday at noon. Regardless of the outcome, the Ducks are guaranteed to play at least two tournament games. If Oregon wins, the Ducks will play top-seeded Stanford Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals. With a loss, the Ducks will take on the loser of the Saint Mary’s-Denver game in the fifth-place contest Friday at noon.
Scouting UC Davis
Sophomore attack Katie McMahon led the Aggies to a winning season (9-7, 2-3 MPSF) after totaling 60 goals. With 126 career goals, McMahon is only the second player in UC Davis lacrosse history to score 100 or more goals. freshman midfielder Katie McGovern is second on the team with 25 goals and junior attack Tiffany Lee ranks third with 20.
UC Davis Rematch
In their first matchup, the Ducks lost to UC Davis, 11-9, in Eugene (3/6). Oregon trailed 7-3 at halftime, and despite the loss, made a late surge, outscoring the Aggies 6-4 in the second half. Jen May and Kate Fleming each scored a pair of goals for the Ducks.
