Women's Tennis Closes Out Strong Recruting Class, Signs Mexican Standout

Ana Cecilia Olivos of Puebla, Mexico has singed a National Letter of Intent to play for the 2005-06 University of Oregon women’s tennis team Duck head coach Nils Schyllander announced Friday.
"We expect Ana to have an immediate impact on next year’s team," Schyllander said. "She is an outstanding student-athlete and will help increase the level of our program."
Olivos comes to Eugene with an impressive resume, which includes a No. 2 Central America Region junior ranking and a top International Tennis Federation junior world ranking of No. 184.
As a junior player, Olivos was ranked No. 1 in the Mexico among 14 and 16 year olds and represented the Mexican National Team on several occasions.
Olivos will join Claudia Hirt (Lucerne, Switzerland) and Carmen Seremeta (Cupertino, Calif.) as the incoming freshmen class for the upcoming 2005-06 season. The Ducks return five players from a squad that won 17 matches and was ranked among the top-25 for a majority of the 2004-05 season.
