Earned honorable mention all-Southwest Junior College Football Conference accolades last fall despite being hampered the latter half of his sophomore season with injuries. Still managed to accumulate 58 tackles (27 unassisted) as he aided the Golden Norse to a 9-3 record following their 21-19 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in the Dalton Defenders Bowl. Team finished 17th in the final J.C.Grid-Wire poll. As a JC freshman, he started six games while finishing the year with 43 tackles (20 unassisted), including a trio of quarterback sacks (12 yards) in addition to seven tackles for loss (20 yards). Originally signing a letter-of-intent at Oregon out of high school in 2004, he was ranked among the top 100 prep prospects from the state of Texas (SuperPrep) following his 2003 season. The three-time all-district honoree and 2001 District Newcomer of the Year posted 17 tackles for loss his final prep campaign among his 103 takedowns, and added eight forced fumbles. Chosen first-team all-district in 2003 for a team that finished the year with a 5-5 ledger. Accumulated 110 tackles (56 unassisted) as a junior in addition to contributing 22 stops behind the line of scrimmage, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, to garner second-team all-district kudos.
