Accounted for 17 receptions for 149 yards and no touchdowns in his lone season at BYU as a true freshman in 2004, highlighted by four catches for 38 yards vs. Colorado State. Also carried the ball twice for eight yards against the Rams for his only rushing attempts as a collegian. Possesses tremendous athletic ability as was recruited at the Division I level following only one year of high school football experience. The football and basketball prep letterman caught 38 passes for 820 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior year to lead all class 5A receivers en route to Garland News honorable mention acclaim. Played a big role in assisting Colonels to a 9-3 record and a District 11 title in 2003 while receiving the team’s Most Athletic and Offensive Player of the Year honors. Competed in the following summer’s Dallas-Fort Worth all-star game, catching three passes for 97 yards which included the winning scoring catch with 41 seconds remaining to play. Also an all-district point guard for the school’s basketball team, helping lead South Garland to the bi-district championship and a regional tournament berth.
