Porter named GoDucks.com Student-Athlete of the Week

Freshman point guard Tajuan Porter has been named GoDucks.com Student Athlete of the Week for the week of November 5th to November 12th.
The Detroit, Mich. native played a pivotal role in the Ducks’ victory over Southern Oregon and a sweep of the Basketball Travelers’s Classic.
In the three games last week (not including Sunday’s game against Protland State) Porter scored 14, 27 and 28 points respectively.

Born Tajuan Marquis Porter March 9, 1988, Detroit, Mich. Parents are Alan and Pamela Porter. Two older brothers and two sisters. Plays the drums. High School (Coach): Renaissance (Mark White). Major is undeclared.
Before Oregon
Led Renaissance High School to two state championships (2004, 2006) and a four-year record of 93-10. Averaged 26.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game as a senior. Named first team all-state, all-league, all-metro and all-city. Scored 18 points with 12 assists in the 2006 state title game versus East Grand Rapids. Netted 33 points -- 11 in overtime -- in the semifinals versus Flint Southwestern. As a junior, averaged 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game while garnering first team all-state, all-league and all-city honors. In a 67-50 win against Rogers, recorded a quadruple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. Also torched Rogers for 32 points later in the season. Received a three-star rating from Scout.com, saying he has, “serious range from the perimeter and (is) a strong player.” Teamed with Hairston as Renaissance won the 2004 state title and averaged 14.6 points per game. Also participated in track at Renaissance.
