Ducks Fall on Senior Night, 32-7 to Beavers

EUGENE, Ore. ? Seniors Shane Webster and Joey Bracamonte won their final matches at McArthur Court, Friday, but the rest of the Ducks lineup was unable to break through as Oregon’s wrestling team fell 32-7 to the Beavers of Oregon State, in the 105th Civil War wrestling match, brought to you by your Northwest Dodge Dealers.
“Coach Wells has done a good job with that team, they are as deep and as talented as I remember than being since the early 1990’s,” Oregon head coach Chuck Kearney said. “Ultimately I think our young guys were excited for their first home Civil War and our seniors were a little too excited about their last one.”
Bracamonte won a 9-3 decision against Anthony Weber, giving the Ducks their first points of the match and closing the Oregon State lead to 21-3.
“I didn’t really think of this as my last home match, I was more excited that it was a Civil War match,” Bracamonte said. “He [Weber] was wrestling not to get majored, he didn’t really try to put moves on me or score.”
Webster wrestled a solid match, scoring 12 takedowns and an escape to propel him to a 25-10, 4-point technical fall victory. Webster was unable to score any back riding points to earn the fifth technical fall point.
“I had a lot of friends out in the crowd, a lot of people from my high school were here plus my family,” Webster said. “I just wanted to go out and leave everything on the mat in my final appearance here at Mac Court.”
