Ducks Return Home for Two Matches

The Oregon men’s tennis team will be back in the friendly confines of the Student Tennis Center for the first time in two weeks as they return home to face, Pac-10 foe Washington in a designated non-conference match beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, before taking on Fresno State, Sunday beginning at 12:30.
Washington is a perennial power within the Pac-10 and nationally, the Huskies just competed in the National Team Indoor tournament.
“Washington will be a very tough test for us, they are a top-10 team this season,” Head coach Kevin Kowalik said.
Kowalik expects a deep, talented Huskies team to once again be the class of the Pac-10.
“I look for them to be repeat winners of the Pac-10 and go deep into the tournament.”
Fresno State is a top-70 team and is currently 6-2 on the year. The Bulldogs have twice tangled with Pac-10 squads this season coming away on the short end both times. The Bulldogs were shut out 7-0 by California earlier this season and in their most recent action fell 5-2 to Arizona.
“Fresno State will also be a tough test for us,” Kowalik said. “They recently defeated No. 59 UNLV 6-1, which shows we will be in for a battle. They are led by Jakub Cech and Sergiu Modoc, two of the best players in the WAC.”
Cech is a First Team All-WAC honoree, who compiled a 15-11 mark last season. Modoc was 9-15 overall last season playing heavily at number two.
