Ducks Stymied in Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. ? The University of Oregon’s struggles against the Cardinal of Stanford continued as the wrestling team fell victim to the Northern California school’s grapplers losing 22-15, Friday afternoon.
The loss was only the fourth ever for the Ducks against the Cardinal. Oregon has dominated the series with the all-time record now at 30-4; the two schools have alternated wins and losses the last three years however, with Stanford winning in 2003-04 and again this year.
Wins for the Ducks at 133, 141, 184 and 197 weren’t enough to overcome a pin loss at 149 and senior Joey Bracamonte’s stunning loss at 165.
Bracamonte currently ranked No. 6 in the nation fell in double overtime against Ray Blake, losing 8-6. Bracamonte was previously undefeated in his senior season (16-0).
The Ducks won’t have to wait long to get the sour taste of losing out of their mouths as they head north on I-80 to face the UC Davis Aggies tonight at 7 p.m.
