Ducks Head to Utah for Two Matches in the High Desert

The University of Oregon women’s tennis team will travel to the state of Utah for two matches, opening the weekend with a match against Utah beginning at noon, Friday. The Ducks then will square off against No. 31 BYU beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday.
“This should be a very tough weekend of tennis for us and continue to test us and get us battle ready for the rest of our very tough conference schedule,” head coach Nils Schyllander said.
Last weekend the Ducks opened their conference schedule by hosting the two Arizona schools. Oregon was unable to get a win in the two matches, falling 4-3 to UA and suffering a 1-6 defeat to ASU. After last weekend’s action Oregon is 10-4 overall and 0-2 in conference matches.
Utah is currently 7-3 on the season, riding a six-match winning streak, with wins during that stretch over New Mexico State, Nevada and Utah State.
The Utes are led by Elizabeth Ferris who has a record of 9-7 in singles play this season. Two of Ferris’s losses have come in team losses for Utah.
BYU is also riding a hot streak of sorts, as the Cougars have won four straight, including wins over No. 52 Oklahoma State, New Mexico State and Portland in that stretch.
BYU is led by No. 17 Olga Boulytcheva, who currently has a 28-5 singles record. The Moscow native is currently 17-6 in doubles play.
