Duck Recruit Embry Finds Success in National Tournament

Men’s tennis recruit Geoff Embry, who signed a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Ducks beginning in 2006-07, has recently had successful trips to a couple of tournaments.

“I am very excited about Geoff’s recent successes in singles and doubles,” men’s tennis head coach Kevin Kowalik said. “I look forward to seeing him continue his success in both singles and doubles.”

The incoming Duck, who hails from Phoenix, Ariz., is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation in doubles along with his partner Tommy McGeorge. The pair recently competed in the finals of the Copper Bowl, falling 9-7.

The pair was also the number one seed at the National Open in Waco, Texas, before the doubles event was cancelled due to bad weather.

Embry is also set to compete in the Spring National in Mobile, Ala., where he will look to improve on his current rankings.

The Oregon men’s tennis team will return to the courts when they face Memphis, March 7, at the Student Tennis Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
