Ducks Set to Face Huskies in Conference Action

After splitting a pair of matches in Utah, the Oregon women’s tennis team returns home to face the University of Washington in Pac-10 action, beginning Saturday at 11 a.m.
“Washington has played a ton of top-35 teams this season, which helps to explain their record, they have faced some tough, tough schools,” head coach Nils Schyllander said. “We are definitely ready to play and we look to come out strong and hopefully have a good match against a top rival.”
The Ducks are currently 11-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Pac-10 the Ducks faced the Huskies in Seattle, earlier this season, coming away with the, 5-2 victory in a designated non-conference match up.
Washington is currently 1-10 on the season and in the midst of a nine-match losing streak, the Huskies are 0-4 in Pac-10 play on the season.
The Huskies schedule has included a slew of top-notch teams and the Huskies have been bit by the injury bug which has contributed to their lackluster record. UW’s only win was a 7-0 shellacking of Portland.
“Their record doesn’t indicate how dangerous they are, this is still a very tough team,” Schyllander said. “We know we have to be ready to face a very determined and solid team.”
Oregon is led by junior Dominika Dieskova playing in the number one spot; she currently has a national rank of 50 in singles play and is 15-1 on the season in dual matches.
The Huskies are led by No. 98, Dinka Hadzic, of Split, Croatia, who is currently 3-8 in dual match play.
