Busy Week Ahead for Oregon Lacrosse

EUGENE, -- The University of Oregon women’s lacrosse team will have a busy week this week as they travel east for three matches, beginning with a noon (PST) match with Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Tuesday. The Ducks follow that with a Thursday match against Colgate, beginning at 4 p.m. (PST). Closing the week Oregon will face Vermont at 10 a.m., (PST), Saturday.
The Ducks are currently 4-4 after defeating Ohio University Saturday. Seven Ducks scored in the contest as Oregon rolled to a 12-6 victory. Allison Leiner is the leading point scorer for the Ducks as she has tabulated 20 points (seven goals and 13 assists) in eight games this season.
Also having standout seasons for the Ducks are freshman Ilsa van den Berg, who has 17 goals and two assists, joining with Leiner the five other Ducks to have double-digit point totals on the season.
Marist is currently 1-5 on the season having suffered a 19-7 loss in their last contest against Drexel. Freshman Stephanie Garland has two hat tricks on the season for the Red Foxes.
Colgate is 5-4 overall on the season and has won its last 3 contests, most recently defeating Lafayette, 18-11. Senior Katie McVeigh led the Raiders with eight points on the afternoon, six on goals and two assists.
Vermont is 5-2 on the season having split a pair on a recent trip west defeating St. Mary’s and falling to UC Davis. Jessie Peksa led the way for the Catamounts in their game against UC Davis as she tallied a hat trick, but it wasn’t enough as the Aggies downed the Catamounts, 11-9.
