Softball Hosts UAB In Final Warm Up Before Conference Play

EUGENE ? The University of Oregon softball team has one final preseason doubleheader before opening Pac-10 play this weekend. The Ducks will host Alabama Birmingham in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Howe Field.
Oregon (15-10) is coming off a 4-3, nine-inning loss, to Akron in the final game of the Wilson Cascade Clash at Howe Field Sunday while UAB dropped a doubleheader to Marshall on Saturday. UAB is currently 18-10 overall and 5-4 in Conference USA action.
The Ducks are finally with a complete roster as pitchers Amy Harris (shoulder), Alicia Cook (academics) and Elise Orange (personal reasons) all returned over the weekend. Harris pitched six hitless innings vs. Akron and Cook went 1-1 on her first day back in action. Freshman catcher Courtney Shlee, who injured her thumb prior to the season-opener, was also cleared to play and caught one inning in Oregon’s loss to the Zips.
The Blazers will face Oregon on Tuesday before facing Oregon State in a doubleheader Wednesday. They are led offensively by Holly Krzan, who is hitting .402 with 28 RBI. Defensively, pitcher Jennifer Nelson has a 1.42 ERA with 93 strikeouts.
