Women's Golfers in 16th in Ping/ASU Second Day

TEMPE, Ariz. ? The No. 34 University of Oregon women’s golf team ended Saturday in 16th place in the Ping ASU Invitational, hosted by
The Ducks tallied a four-person second-round score of 316 and now have a combined total of 623 (307-316) through the second of three rounds.
Overall in the team standings, No. 10 UCLA paces the 16-team field with a two-round score of 577 after they shot a 289 Saturday, and improved one place after a 288 opening round Friday
First-day leader and No. 3-ranked Arizona State followed four strokes behind in second place with a 581 (283-298), ahead of No. 17 Texas A&M (third, 587, 294-293), No. 6 USC (fourth, 593, 295-298) and No. 5 Pepperdine (fifth, 600, 292-308).
Overall on the individual side,
Individually for UO, freshman Cathryn Bristow stood as the team’s top player for the second straight day and was tied for 16th overall at 148 (72-76).
Other Duck scorers included senior Erin Andrews (26th-tie, 150, 74-76), redshirt junior Therese Wenslow (64th-tie, 158, 83-75) and senior Michelle Timpani (94th, 170, 81-89). Sophomore Victoria Wenslow was disqualied from the competition Saturday morning for a scorecard discrepancy on the 18th hole after she shot an 80 opening round Friday.
During the tourney’s third and final round Sunday, ASU will update scoring live at the www.golfstatresults.com website, and day-end results will also be posted to the www.TheSunDevils.com website.
In last year’s event, the Ducks placed 12th with a final score of 908 (295-307-306). Andrews scored her first top-10 finish of 2004-05 and third of her career (ninth-tie, 220, 74-73-73). Other Duck returnees from last season’s field include Wenslow (54th-tie, 231, 74-80-77) and Timpani (86th-tie, 244, 83-82-79).
