Oregon Assistant Swadener Resigns Post

EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon Head Coach Bev Smith announced Tuesday that Peg Swadener has resigned her position as assistant women's basketball coach for the Ducks to pursue other opportunities.
Swadener, 34 and a nine-year veteran of the Division I coaching ranks, spent the past three seasons coaching at her alma mater after serving as the top assistant at Idaho State in 2002-03. She began her collegiate coaching career at Boise State (1997-02).
"On behalf of the women's program, I would like to thank Peg for her contributions to our program," Smith said. "As an assistant coach, she worked diligently in all areas of her assigned duties and she was an outstanding ambassador not only for our basketball program, but for the University of Oregon and the city of Eugene as well. We wish her well in her future endeavors."
A native of Eugene, Swadener attended Marist High School before walking on at Oregon, where she became a scholarship player under then-coach Elwin Heiny. A four-year letterwinner and 1994 graduate, Swadener still ranks among the Ducks' top ten in career three-point field goals made and three-point field goal percentage.
The Ducks posted a 49-40 overall record during Swadener's tenure, and the 2004-05 team reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for only the fifth time in school history.
Prior to becoming a collegiate coach, Swadener spent three years as an assistant coach at Marist.
