Men?s Golf Visits Stanford

EUGENE, Ore. ? The Oregon men’s golf team heads to its final competition prior to the Pac-10 championships at this weekend’s U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford. If the weather in the Bay Area cooperates, teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 Sunday at the 6,742-yard, par 70 Stanford Golf Course.
The Ducks will be in competition with 16 other teams, including No. 5 UCLA, No. 17 San Diego State, California, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Hawaii-Hilo, Kansas, Long Beach State, Northern Colorado, Oregon State, Rice, San Jose State, host Stanford, USC, Washington and Washington State.
Oregon’s five-man team will consist of sophomore Joey Benedetti, who is coming off an eighth-place tie at last week’s Thunderbird Invitational, seniors Gregg LaVoie and Justin St. Clair, junior Matt Ma and sophomore Derek Sipe.
The Ducks tied for seventh at last year’s U.S. Intercollegiate. Ma tied for second at the 2005 event by shooting a 209.
