Jenn Salling Named To Canadian Senior Women's National Softball Team

Ottawa, ON ? University of Oregon freshman Jenn Salling is one of 17 senior women athletes that have been named to represent Team Canada in several upcoming softball events . The team will participate in the Ontario Pro Tour, the Canada Cup, the US Cup and will culminate with the 2006 International Softball Federation World Championships to be held August 27th to September 5th, 2006 in Beijing, China a qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
The team will play together for the first time as Canada's National Team in a mini pro tour in southern Ontario versus the New England Riptide in a series of exhibition games from June 17th to June 25th, 2006.
"I am really excited about the opportunity to continue playing softball throughout the summer and possibly qualify for the Olympics," Salling said. "I just want to work on improving my game and get better and this is a great opportunity for me."
Salling, a freshman from Vancouver, B.C., is currently redshirting for the Ducks this season. She is expected to replace senior shortstop Breanne Sabol next season.
