Women's Golf Leads Illini Spring Classic 1st Round
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The No. 41 University of Oregon women's golf team led the first round of the Illini Spring Classic Friday with a four-player score of 307 on the par 72, 5,909-yard Stone Creek Golf Course.
Oregon held a one-stroke lead in the team race ahead of Iowa (second, 308).
Other teams in the top five of the 16-team field included Michigan (third, 313), and Cincinnati, Indiana and tournament host Illinois (fourth-tie, 314).
In the individual standings, Duck freshman Cathryn Bristow stood in a two-way tie for second place with a 2-over 74 with Ball State's Kallie Harrison. Iowa's Jill Marcum paced the 89-woman field with a 1-over 73 Friday.
UO had three other players in the top-20 overall - seniors Erin Andrews (seventh-tie, 76) and Michelle Timpani (13th-tie, 78) and redshirt senior Therese Wenslow (19th-tie, 79) - while sophomore Victoria Wenslow rounded out the Duck unit (72nd-tie, 87).
