Ducks Close Out Season with No. 3 Seed on Line

COMING UP:
CLOSING OUT STRONG
The Ducks return to Pap? Field Sunday to face Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe California at 11 a.m. to close out the season. The match will mark the first-ever Oregon Lacrosse game to be televised. The game will be carried live on Comcast 14, a part of the Oregon Sports Network (OSN), with Joe Giansante calling the action. The game will also be rebroadcast Monday, May 1 at 7 p.m. The match also falls on Youth Day, with a ticket from the lacrosse game good also for entry into the softball game versus California at 1:00 p.m. For a ticket voucher and more information click here.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks defeated Stony Brook at home, 13-11, on April 11, with the duo of Jen May and Alison Leiner leading the show. May recorded six goals in the effort with Leiner assisting on four of those goals. Oregon then split a pair of contests on the road, besting the Crusaders of Holy Cross, 13-12, as freshman Ilsa van den Berg scored the tying goal with less than two minutes remaining. The defense then stopped the Holy Cross attack and used the ensuing possession to set up an offense that would see May fire the winning goal on yet another assist from Leiner.
The Ducks could not hold the momentum of the win over the Patriot League leaders, and would fall to Boston University, 19-8, to close out the road trip.
BACK TO BACK RECORDS
Jen May became the second Duck in as many games to tie the school and Pap? Field records for goals in a single game when she scored six goals against Stony Brook. Alison Leiner first set the marks in the match against Denver on April 7. Leiner also set the school record for points in that game with nine. The previous school record of five goals had been held by Jana Bradley against Denver in 2005 and had been equaled twice this season by freshman Ilsa van den Berg and sophmore Kate Fleming. Leiner bested her previous record of 8 points, when she tallied two goals and six assists against Saint Mary’s earlier this year.
