Andrews Continues to Lead Women's Golfers in Pac-10 Second Day

TUCSON - The No. 43-ranked University of Oregon women's golf team remained in 10th place Tuesday in second round action in the Pacific-10 Conference Golf Championships, hosted by the University of Arizona at Oro Valley Country Club.
Oregon combined for a four-player, +31-over score of 319 Tuesday to give them a score of 633 after two rounds, while No. 2 UCLA moved into the lead by eight strokes with a tourney-low 287 second round and two-round, 2-over 578 tally.
First-day leader No. 3 Arizona State dropped a position to second place Tuesday with a second-round 299 and stood at 10-over with their 586.
No. 12 California trailed in third place (594, 296-298), followed by No. 6 USC (fourth, 595, 293-302), No. 49 Oregon State (fifth, 605, 307-298), No. 27 Washington (sixth, 608, 308-300), No. 19 Arizona (seventh, 609, 301-308), No. 21 Stanford (eighth, 610, 299-311) and No. 42 Washington State (ninth, 615, 300-315)
Senior Erin Andrews led the Ducks for the second straight day with a 76 Tuesday and is tied for 22nd overall with a 152. The Las Vegas native carded birdies on the par 5, sixth and 15th holes, and penciled in bogeys on the following holes ? 1, 2, 3, 9, 16 and 18.
Sophomore Victoria Wenslow followed in 39th place (158, 76-82), and other Ducks among Tuesday’s standings included senior Michelle Timpani (42nd-tie, 161, 81-80), freshman Cathryn Bristow (47th, 164, 81-83) and redshirt junior Therese Wenslow (49th, 166, 85-81).
"We did not play well today today," Oregon head coach Shannon Rouillard said, "and I think this is the highest team score we have had all year. There are no excuses, but our number one player (Bristow) is pretty sick. It's not that I believe the golf course is too difficult. If you hit good shots you are rewarded. If you hit a ball in the middle of the green it goes over so you have to adjust for that. The entire field is dealing with that, though."
Entering Tuesday’s second round, Wenslow had stood in a tie for 24th with Victoria Wenslow after a first-round 76, and were followed by Timpani and Bristow (43rd-tie, 81) and Therese Wenslow (48th-tie, 85).
Overall in the individual standings, UCLA’s Amie Cochran moved into the lead with a four-under 68 Tuesday and her two-round, 3-under score of 141 paced the field by one stroke.
Washington’s Paige Mackenzie climbed one spot Tuesday to second place (142, 71-71), and was followed by the third-place trio of UCLA’s Tiffany Joh (143, 71-72), Arizona State’s Azaha Munoz (143, 70-73) and Oregon State’s Leah Whiting (143, 75-68). Munoz entered the day in the lead with a 2-under 70 first round Monday that tied her with Washington State’s Ana Kostina who dropped into a three-way tie for seventh Tuesday (145, 70-75).
