First Day of Ojai Mixed for Ducks

OJAI, Calif., -- The University of Oregon women’s tennis team had a mixed bag in first round action seeing some quality wins and suffering a couple tough losses.
All three of Oregon’s freshmen women’s players advanced as Ceci Olivos, Carmen Seremeta and Claudia Hirt all won first round matches.
Hirt defeated Jessica Leck of Stanford in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Ceci Olivos also was a straight sets winner over Amy Toth of Washington State, winning 6-3, 6-3. Carmen Seremeta completed the first round win streak for the Oregon freshmen as she defeated Aleksandra Cekic of Washington State,
Oregon junior Dominika Dieskova was not so lucky as she suffered a first round defeat, to USC’s Lindsey Nelson, 6-1, 6-1. Also suffering losses were Monica Hoz de Vila, who fell in three sets, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 to Jessica Leitch of Arizona State. Anna Powaska scratched from her match with Marjolein van de Ven of WSU. Jamie Marshall was also unable to score a win as she fell to Stephanie Svanfeldt of Washington, 6-2, 7-6.
